English Shepherds (aka "farm collies") have traditionally been all-around farm dogs on small farms. Unfortunately, this means that as the number of small farms in the United States has decreased, so has the number of English Shepherds. This makes it even more important for English Shepherd owners, breeders and enthusiasts to stay in touch as a community. |

One way that the English Shepherd community stays in touch is through annual regional "gatherings," such as the one we attended in Northern California on May 27, 2007. These gatherings provide an opportunity for the dogs to meet their brethren and participate in activities such as herding and agility, and also give their humans a chance to exchange ideas and make new friends. |
